Information about the recent City of Apopka Residential Backflow letter

Last edited 3-31-2022

The City of Apopka has recently sent out letters requesting compliance of residential customers with testable backflow devices.

The City of Apopka says in their letter that a Dual Check is an approved alternative to a testable device. Dual Checks do not need to be tested.

Unfortunately, due to an overwhelming number of orders, we currently do not accept tests and installations orders in the city of Apopka at this time.

As an alternatively the City of Apopka can test or replace your device and charge via the water bill:

The letter says: “If we do not receive a test within 14 days after the due date, the City of Apopka or its designee will perform the needed maintenance up and including converting to the new “Dual Check" device. The cost will be applied to your water bill.”

Our understanding is that the City of Apopka will try and test the device first. If the device passes the test the charge is $60. If the device fails the test, then the device will be replaced for $300, and the charge will be spread over three billing cycles on your water bill.

We are in the process of getting more details from the City’s Cross Connection Control department, and we will update this page as we find out more information.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
